Alfred was as quite as a five year old could be walking downstairs.  Today was his birthday and knowing his parents, a surprise was waiting for him on the kitchen table.  He was nearing the door frame, heart pumping with excitement.  He overheard his Mommy and Daddy talking about what to get him and well, a puppy was brought up more than once.  Alfred looked into the kitchen… not a thing.  He let out a disappointed sigh.  "Did they forget it was today?"  "Of course not Sweetie, why would we do that?" ________ said.  "Mommy!" Alfred ran to you with his arms up.  You bent down and picked the child up.  He nestles into your arms and sees his father coming up behind you.  "Alfred, what are you doing up already?"  Alfred sticks his tongue out.  "It's my birthday!  I wanted to see what you and Mommy got me!"  Arthur looked to you.  "________ did you tell him?"  "Oh course not; I didn't want to ruin the surprise."  You put the small boy down and Arthur guides you both to the kitchen table.  When Alfred was settled in the chair, Arthur takes your hand and you both look at the child.  "First of all, Happy Fifth Birthday Alfred!" Arthur says.  "Second, what was the one thing you have been asking for a lot time now?" _______ asks.  "A SUPER HERO DOG THAT CAN FLY, FIGHT EVIL AND SAVE THE DAY WITH ME!!  AND HAVE A BLUE CAPE!!"  Arthur facepalmed while you giggled.  "How about we go to the kennel and you pick out the one you want" ______ said.  Alfred's eyes grow in happiness.  "What are we waiting for, let's get dressed and go."  "Alfred are you forgetting breakfast?" Arthur called out to his son but it was too late, he was up the stairs and in his room.  Arthur turns to you, "Are you sure he will be responsible with an animal?"  "Of course he will!" _____ barks back.
At the kennel, a nice lady led the way to the puppy room.  When she opened the door, Alfred ran in without a second thought.  "PUPPIES~"  "Alfred, get back here!" Arthur shouted.  "Oh Iggy, don't be a stick in the mud.  Alfred just excited about this."  Within no time Alfred came face to face with the one puppy he dreamed of.  It had (f/c) with eager (e/c) and its tail began to wiggle when it saw the boy looking at him.  "You!" Alfred said pointing at the small pup.  The puppy's ears shot up and ran to the boy.  "Daddy!  Mommy!  It's this one!  He/she is the one I've always wanted."  The lady picked the pup up and pulled a sheet of paper out.  "Please fill out the information on this page and sign at the bottom" she said handing the paper to Arthur.  "Alfred what are you going to name him/her?" Arthur asks.  "_d/n_ and we're going to save the world from Bushy Brow's cooking!"  "That's a wonderful name Sweetie." _____ said.  Arthur on the other hand was disappointed with what his son wanted to do.
The day flew by after that and Alfred was being tucked into bed by _____.  As for _d/n_, he/she was curled up next to Alfred.  Alfred was slowly drifting asleep, "Thanks Mommy and Daddy for the best birthday gift ever!"
